Pay Yourself First

Sep 18, 2013 | Uncategorized | 1 comment |

Sometimes you just need the right meme to pop up on your screen to put everything into place. For me, today, it was:

Ego says: “Once everything falls into place, I ‘ll feel peace.” Spirit says: “Find your peace, and then everything will fall into place.”

Oh Spirit, you so smart.

Here is the deal. As you may have noticed, (thanks so much to those who did and asked for more) I have not blogged in almost 5 months.

5 MONTHS

That is a long time people! I hate not dumping my every little thought here in my happy blog place – I have missed it so, so much.

But why Karen, why if you love it so much – why you no blog?

Thanks for asking.

I no blog because I have a lot of people in my house who need me. Six kids, a dog and a husband who requires frequent feeding and watering. I don’t like to let any of my clan down – never, about anything. I also like to eat and shower – so my days are pretty chock full of nuts.

Summers are especially nuts around here, so let my blog go to attend the needs of everyone – but myself.

This is unwise – I know this is unwise. I blog about shit like this all the time proclaiming that taking care of yourself helps you take care of others, pay yourself first, be an example for the rest of your family, blah – blah – blah.

And yet here I am. With a lame ass five-month black hole of blog.

It happens people. You can know the right things to do and still not do them.

So, what next? You get yourself on the freaking blog wagon. You let it to go and move on. Living mindfully is great in theory – but sometimes you are simply not in your right mind.

So, I am back. Promising myself to blog even when every kid in my house wants a ride to a different place. Even when my house looks like it is eight cats short of a house on Hoarders, even when my lovely husband has lit candles, put on the Beck/Prince Pandora radio station and tries to lure me away from the computer with promises of hair brushing and foot rubs.

So, the next time my Ego says “Once everything falls into place, I will write my blog,” my spirit will say “Write my blog, and everything will fall into place.”
